A Queenstown Welcome: Snow-Capped Mountains and Lakeside Views

Our New Zealand adventure began with a spectacular arrival into Queenstown. Even the airport, surrounded by majestic snow-capped mountains, took our breath away. The flight in offered stunning views, hinting at the beauty that awaited us. We settled into our cozy two-bedroom Airbnb just outside of Queenstown, boasting incredible lake and mountain views, all for a fantastic price. Its convenient location, just a short drive from town, made it the perfect base for our explorations.

Fergburger: A Queenstown Culinary Icon

No trip to Queenstown is complete without a visit to Fergburger. The aroma alone drew us in from blocks away, and the long queue attested to its legendary status. The friendly staff, quick service, and on-tap beer made the wait enjoyable. We shared a mountain of burgers, fries, and onion rings – a feast fit for royalty. While the milkshake wasn't our favorite, the burger itself lived up to the hype. The massive, flavorful patty and perfectly toasted bun made it a truly memorable meal.

Meeting the Crew

For those new to our channel, I'm Tommy, and my better half, Sammy, was unfortunately under the weather. Luckily, my parents, Jackie and Tom, joined us for this New Zealand adventure, making the trip even more special.

Skyline Gondola and Luge: Thrills and Panoramic Views

Our first Queenstown activity was a ride on the Skyline Gondola. Ascending to Bob's Peak, we were treated to breathtaking panoramic views of the city, lake, and surrounding mountains. The gondola itself was remarkably quiet and smooth, offering expansive windows for unobstructed viewing. At the top, we marveled at the stunning vista, a truly unforgettable experience.

Next up was the luge, a thrilling downhill ride with stunning scenery. We opted for three rides, each one filled with laughter and friendly competition. The exhilarating speed and stunning backdrop made it a highlight of our Queenstown experience.

Exploring the Charm of Queenstown and Beyond

Queenstown's charm captivated us with its vibrant atmosphere and friendly locals. We enjoyed exploring the town, even witnessing a brave soul taking a dip in the chilly lake waters. The unexpected rainbow that graced the sky added a touch of magic to our day.

The following day, despite the rainy weather, we ventured out to explore the surrounding areas, including the charming town of Te Anau. We enjoyed delicious flat whites, stocked up on warm gear for our upcoming hike, and experienced the kindness of strangers through a "pay it forward" coffee initiative.

Te Anau: Gateway to Milford Sound

Our journey to Te Anau offered stunning scenery, including rolling hills dotted with sheep and snow-capped mountains in the distance. We checked into our spacious Airbnb, surrounded by majestic mountain views, and enjoyed a relaxing evening with gin and tonics, preparing for our early morning departure to Milford Sound.
